opps, i breastfed in public!

One day, Kolt and I were meeting Scott at his shop for lunch. Kolt was hungry while we were waiting for Scott to go on his lunch break, so I started nursing Kolt in the drivers seat of our SUV. One of Scott’s fellow Marines walked up to the driver’s window to thank me for fixing something on his uniform (it’s no secret in Scott’s shop that I know how to sew). But anyway, the Marine was just busy talking to me…then all of a sudden he realized what Kolt was doing. His face turned bright red and he kept apologizing. Of course, it was no big deal to me!
A friend of mine, Falastine, shared this story…
Kaia (my daughter) was like 2 months old and I went to my college orientation thing and I had to meet with a counselor, who was a guy…a young attractive guy, at that. Well anyways, it was just me and Kaia, I didn’t trust anyone watching her yet accept my significant other, but he had to work, so i brought her with. I timed it perfect to where I thought she would be sleeping when I saw the counselor but of course things never go as planned, she woke up, was fussy. I usually don’t cover in public, but I felt super awkward just whipping out my boob in front of a young guy like that, so I covered. She fell asleep and I thought I covered myself up, took off the nursing cover only to realize my nipple was popping out of the tip of my shirt. It was so awkward, I wanted to run out of there. I apologized and he turned away…it was just…ah…super embarrassing!
Isn’t it funny how the other person is usually the one who is more embarrassed?!? Do you have an embarrassing nursing in public story? I’d love to hear it!

My name is Marah. I am a twenty-four year old, stay at home mom and aspiring photographer. I’m a tandem nursing, cloth diapering, baby wearing, attachment parenting, co-sleeping, semi-crunchy kind of mama to a rambunctious toddler named Kolton, born December 6, 2009 and a beautiful baby girl named Emmersyn, born February 11, 2012. This a story of my journey through life in God's grace.

I had a moment like that once- my Dad’s girlfriend’s son plopped down on the couch next to me with a plate of nachos and just went to town not having any idea what I was doing just inches from his face. I think it was for the best at the moment.
